Last week, I was invited to have my hair done by (my new bff) Juliet at Capelli D’oro Salon in the Flatiron District. I’m extremely picky about who touches my hair, but after meeting and chatting with Juliet, I instantly trusted her. And I was honestly blown away by her skill. Since I’m so happy with my hair, I want to share her with you! Plus, she’s giving readers of Downtown Native a STEEP discount – 20% off or more depending on what you want done to your hair. Just call Capelli D’oro salon (all info is below), ask to book at appointment with Juliet and mention this blog post!

Juliet’s vision for my hair was exactly what I wanted to do: lighten it up a little with balayage (the most natural looking style for highlights), and tone it a little to remove the brassy color from my blonde to make it a cooler shade.

Juliet used a product called Brazilian Bond Builder that she mixed in with the bleach that literally rebuilt my hair from the inside out as the bleach did it’s work. I was amazed at how well it worked, and how silky my hair felt when the bleach was washed out. I had never had a stylist mention this product before, but Juliet swears by it and I totally see why.

Juliet’s technique with the balayage produced a flawless result. I’m like OCD with my hair and no matter how great a colorist is, I will always find a streak that I’d wish wasn’t there. But this time there was not one streak! Just amazing blonde that looks so natural. She’s honestly the Queen of Balayage, and I could tell she has such a passion for it.

The next step was a violet toner to cool down the color and remove the warmer tones that stem from my natural shade. Juliet let me sit for a while under some warm air to make sure I got the result I wanted.

Once the toner was rinsed out, it was time for the cut. We chatted about what would be best for my hair, and Juliet got straight to work. What I love about her is that at the end of my cut, my hair looked exactly how I wanted it to. There were no surprises, and it wasn’t any shorter than we discussed. It’s now a week later and I love how my hair lays perfectly  whether I have it blown out or choose to let my natural curls air-dry.

Finally, Leslie (the salon owner) sent me home with some great Sojourn products to care for my new hair. I’ve been using them for the past week and my hair has never felt softer!

My experience with Juliet at Capelli D’Oro salon was amazing, and I am SO glad I found her. I sort of want to selfishly keep her to myself, that’s how much I love my hair.  But in all honestly, make an appointment and let her hook up your hair for summer.
