It finally looks like there’s some hope that it will start feeling like spring here in NYC soon 🙂 And that means it’s time to start thinking about Summer vacation! John and I take a couple of trips a year, and we try to plan one of them in a location we’ve never been to before. These photos are from last year’s trip to Santa Monica, when we rented bikes and rode down to Venice Beach. It was so much fun! I took Minnie with me and she sat in my bike basket the whole time.
It felt like we were riding for a long time, but I could immediately tell when we got to Venice – the vibe was really cool, kind of hippy with a little grit. There were fun little shops along the boardwalk and everything was so colorful. There were tatted up skateboarders and longboarders riding around and doing tricks, people taking the sun from lounge chairs on the sides of the road, and crazy murals painted on the buildings. It was the epitome of SoCal. The only thing we didn’t get to do was make it to the canals (pretty manmade canals built in 1905 to models those of Venice, Italy). I got tired before we made it over there…we’ll have to do it next time!
So back to vacation planning for this summer…where should we go? What’s your favorite (warm!) vacation spot?
