I’m finally getting to post photos from John’s birthday! I’ve told you before that John and I go over and above to celebrate holidays, it’s just our little way of making things more fun.
We started out his birthday with brunch at Mercer Kitchen. The food is so good there and the ambiance is great because it’s always packed. I had the sashimi salmon which was amazing, John ordered a grilled chicken sandwich, and we shared baked olives, crispy squid, mozzarella & tomato pizza, and a salad. After brunch, we did some shopping around SoHo and tried to enjoy the afternoon, despite that it was frigid and snowing out and I had managed to lose John’s earwarmers which I felt really bad about.
Later that night, I gave John the Tissot watch and Moncler scarf I bought for him, and we had birthday cake from Magnolia (I got him devil’s food cake with caramel cream cheese icing – sooo good I can’t even). I topped his cake with sparklers and gold candles and he really liked it 🙂
Later in the week, we went out with friends to a casual bar downtown and did brunch at Harry’s Italian the next morning – I never knew Harry’s served brunch on the weekends but I’ve clearly been living under a rock…it’s like $20 and includes unlimited mimosas or bloodys and you get to choose appetizers and brunch dishes that are all so tasty. John and I shared a pizza with prosciutto, arugula, and shaved parmesan and a filet mignon sandwich topped with fried eggs. Can’t even explain how satisfying this brunch was after we were out late the night before.
