Ever since I was little, the day after Thanksgiving marked the official start of the holiday season and was always reserved for decorating the house. Now that I’ve moved out of my childhood home, I still can’t escape those festive feelings once Thanksgiving is over, and I can’t resist getting all the decorating done as soon as I can.

In my opinion, the holiday season is one of the coziest times of the year. I also think it’s when New York City is its most beautiful. Something about glimmering Christmas lights, the smell of pine all around and corny giddy little decorations of Santa and snowmen just do it for me.

John and I spent the day (and night) yesterday decorating the apartment. Minnie always gets her own little Christmas tree above her bed and this year we added a little Mickey toy soldier to her setup. We strung garland in the kitchen and put up the larger Christmas tree in front of our big window.

To keep us going, I set up a little DIY hot chocolate bar inspired by the one I saw at the Aerie Holiday Blogger Party.  I also snagged some adorable Santa hats and festive accessories like reindeer antlers, Minnie Mouse ears and light up Christmas necklaces to keep us entertained 🙂

I’m wearing cozy Victoria’s Secret PJs with my Aerie sequin bralette set in these photos.

How are you getting ready for the holidays? What’s your favorite thing to do in New York this season? Leave me a comment!
