I received a product recently that I’m so excited to share with you guys. PawNosh, an environmentally friendly company based in California, reached out to me asking if I would be interested in their pet bowls that are made of 100% recycled glass. This sparked my interest for so many reasons.
Firstly, we all are living in a time when so many of the products we use on a daily basis are created using carelessly sourced materials that are proven to be dangerous to our health. Glass, on the other hand, is the only material that is deemed safe for use by humans for food and beverages, as it is made up of natural materials and will not leech chemicals into its contents. When it comes to the products I use myself, I try to be extremely health conscious, using glass bottles and containers whenever possible and staying away from pre-packaged products that are stored in plastic containers that may contain unsafe chemicals. I try my best to provide my dog with the same conscientious effort, to preserve her health as well.
Additionally, I am so impressed by PawNosh’s commitment to the environment. By creating their pet bowls with 100% recycled glass, they are able to reduce their energy consumption as well as reduce the amount of glass bottles that end up in community landfills.
The final thing that grabbed my interest in PawNosh is that all the products are manufactured in the United States…California to be exact. This is a huge deal for me, because retaining local jobs is something I find very important.
Once I received the PawNosh dog bowls for Minnie, I loved them for a whole new set of reasons. I immediately fell in love with their cute and eco-friendly packaging design. Not only are the bowls works of art that remind me of stained glass, but they also have a few features that make them amazingly functional!
I received 2 Cubby bowls for Minnie, which is the size recommended for dogs or cats up to 25 pounds. These bowls are heavy – over 3 pounds each! Finally, a bowl that can stand up to Minnie’s feeding frenzy, where she can get so overly excited about her food that she pushes the bowl around my entire apartment as she gobbles up her kibble while hardly chewing. Her food and water no longer go flying across the room because she stomped on the edge of the bowl in a high stakes game of indoor fetch. Oh, the luxury!
It’s not just Minnie whose been responsible for several broken bowls in the past. I admit, I’ve had my fair share of clumsy moments where I blatantly kicked one glass bowl into the other bowl, into the wall, into the metal legs of my kitchen chairs… whatever the case, a mess always followed. These bowls are so durable! I’ve already managed to accidentally kick one of the bowls (the lights were off and I didn’t see it!), only this time, the bowl didn’t fly across the room. It stayed put, and no mess ensued. My foot did hurt a little, though!
One of my favorite features of the PawNosh bowls is the space in the bottom that allows you to comfortably hold them. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve spilled water out of my old pet bowls while setting them down on the ground, as I try to remove my fingers from underneath a bowl that’s filled to the brim. That’s not the case with these. The ridge at the bottom of the bowl allows me to hold the bowl, set it down, and remove my hand without it being stuck under the bowl. This feature also makes it really hard to drop the bowl while carrying it. Why has no one else thought of this!?
