Way back when I was searching for my apartment, my real estate agent at the time described the Financial District in a way I’ll never forget. She said, “It’s real Gotham City down there, it’s so quiet and empty at night you feel like Batman and the Joker are just going to swoop out from behind the buildings or something!” Nonetheless, that didn’t dissolve the love I have for downtown NYC. The Financial District has been humming with a great mix of locals and tourists lately, with much less of that quiet Gotham City feel. New restaurants are popping up throughout the area, one being is the Grand Opening of Roast Kitchen’s second location.
Roast Kitchen is a lunch and dinner spot where you can get a quick delicious meal. The food at Roast Kitchen is made fresh, and the meats are rotisserie-roasted and seasoned perfectly. You can build your own meal by choosing the ingredients you want in a bowl that’s served either hot (like a warm rice bowl) or cold (like a salad). John and I ordered the Chorizo bowl (Baby spinach & jasmine rice, smoky spicy chorizo, garlic) with added chicken, and the Moroccan bowl (baby spinach & herbed couscous, roasted veggies) with added Steak. They were both really yummy. I tend to add salt and pepper to my food but these bowls needed absolutely no extra seasoning. A nice addition to the restaurant is the Juice Bar, where you can get fresh pressed juices and smoothies with pretty much any fruit and veggie ingredients you can think of. I love juicing, so this is a huge plus in my book! Bon appetit 🙂 Roast Kitchen, 199 Water Street
