Our patience for this icy winter has been wearing thin lately, so we were definitely in need of a warm and sunny Sunday. We spent the day in one of the brightest spots of Manhattan – Battery Park City. For some reason, once we cross the highway into Battery Park, we feel like we’ve entered a suburb that’s significantly sunnier and warmer than the main island of Manhattan. After picking up bagels, we headed to the water to have lunch. Minnie loves to sunbathe, so she laid out while casually munching on random pieces of bacon we tossed her way.
We love the view from Battery Park, and we were really starting to feel relaxed when we were interrupted by Minnie barking frantically at a duck that fearlessly walked right by us. We couldn’t really blame Minnie for feeling threatened, as it was larger than her, but we did have to call her out for disturbing the peace! Don’t be surprised when we talk about spotting a duck in NYC – we weren’t kidding when we said that the atmosphere in Battery Park City is so different from the rest of the Manhattan.
Battery Park City also boasts some great photography opportunities, so we were snapping away all day. It felt so much like summer in Battery Park – the restaurants were buzzing and people were sitting outside for lunch without jackets. We can’t wait until the warm weather is here to stay, but we tried made the most of this time with the sun.
