Each year for the past 9 years, the LUNGevity Foundation hosts a beautiful 3k walk in New York City that raises money for the research and early detection of lung cancer. After losing a loved one to lung cancer, we realized that this dog-friendly event was the perfect way to spend a beautiful and sunny Saturday morning.
Everyone gathered at Pier 46 in Hudson River Park, where the grassy lawn was populated with eager participants, a DJ, and plenty of refreshments and merchandise available for purchase. Dogs were made a top priority at the event- there was an area just for dogs equipped with water bowls, treats, and apparel for sale sponsored by Team Mom’s Angels. Once we purchased Minnie a t-shirt, she was ready to go. She had the time of her life rolling in the grass and playing with other dogs.
After a touching opening ceremony and some warm-ups, we began the 3k walk. The scenic walk continued from Pier 46 straight downtown along the Hudson River. Minnie walked straight to the finish line and was rewarded with some flashy blue celebratory beads and a refreshing drink of water.
This was a beautiful event that we intend to be a part of every year! Great work to the LUNGevity team for all their hard work and dedication to their cause.
